BIO-PLA – NPA Plast

Polylactic acid (PLA), a plastic substitute made from fermented plant starch (usually corn) is quickly becoming a popular alternative to traditional petroleum-based plastics. Polylactic acid or polyactide (PLA) is a biodegradable and bioactive polyester made up of lactic acid building blocks. It was first discovered in 1932 by Wallace Carothers by heating lactic acid under vacuum while removing condensed water. During the early times, only low-density PLA was produced. PLA or Polylactic Acid is mainly made from genetically modified cornstarch, which is so kindly being produced by NatureWorks, a subsidiary company from Cargill, the biggest producer of modified corn in the world. Sound like conspiracy here.
